Why the L.L.Bean Wicked Good Moccasins is The Best

The L.L.Bean Wicked Good Moccasin is the rare pick that almost every reviewer agreed on, topping four of the six reviews we read, including Wirecutter, Good Housekeeping and Forbes. The reason is the material. Wirecutter's Zoe Vanderweide said the genuine shearling feels like a warm hug for the feet, and Good Housekeeping's tester found it softer and more comfortable than the slippers she already owned. It is not just cozy. Forbes praised its exceptional warmth and stability and singled out the gummy, grippy sole, which grips hard floors and lets you step outside to grab the mail. Good Housekeeping's Textiles Lab judged the suede-and-rubber build durable enough to last for years.

What It Won't Do

Good Housekeeping and Forbes both note it is not machine washable, only spot cleaned, and Wirecutter warns the dense shearling can feel too warm for sweaty feet.

Why the Bombas Sunday Slipper is the Best Value

The Bombas Sunday Slipper gives you most of the coziness for $25 less, and it does one thing the winner cannot: it goes in the wash. Wirecutter made it a top pick for cushion, calling it squishy and secure, and Forbes named it Best Fuzzy Slipper for its cozy hug. The sherpa lining is genuinely warm, the cushioned footbed supports different foot shapes, and the rubber outsole grips hard floors. At about $75 it undercuts the shearling picks while staying machine washable, which for an everyday slipper that gets worn barefoot matters more than it sounds.

What It Won't Do

The open-heel design is less secure than a full-back slipper, Forbes found it runs slightly small, and sherpa is neither as warm nor as rugged as genuine shearling.
