Steam spreads evenly and the plate slides without catching, which is what separates a good iron from a frustrating one.

HGTV's Belle DuChene, who presses clothes professionally, called its vertical steaming professional grade and singled out the powerful spray for knocking down set-in wrinkles. That is high praise for the cheapest serious iron in this group.
TechGearLab named it Best for Delicate Fabrics at 70 out of 100 and pointed to why: at 1.9 pounds it is the lightest iron they tested, with a narrow tip that steers easily around buttons and pleats. Where the CHI is a heavyweight for pressing, the Allure is nimble for detail work. The two irons suit different jobs.
The price gap is the whole argument. The Allure lists near $49 against the CHI's $88, so you save close to forty dollars and still get vertical steam, a stainless soleplate, and a light body. For a first apartment or an occasional presser, that math is hard to beat.

What It Won't Do
You feel the price in the plastic. HGTV found some parts feel cheap and noted it takes a long time to cool down after use, so you cannot put it away quickly. TechGearLab measured only 87 grams of steam, average for the group and well below the top performers, so heavy linen needs an extra pass. Reviewed also found the controls unclear at first, which means a short learning curve before it feels natural.
